the following information regarding new data cleaning technology available in
the upcoming release of FME 2006 GB: </font></p>

<p ><font face="Arial" size="2"></font> <font face="Arial" size="2">MRF
Geosystems Corporation of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has made their MRF Clean
technology available to FME users through a new extra-cost FME plug-in called
the MRFCleaner.</font></p>

<p ><font face="Arial" size="2">MRF
Geosystems Corporation’s data cleaner technology extends FME’s spatial data
transformation capability by providing FME’s MRF Cleaner with the ability to
repair the geometric shapes of map features while reformatting the data.
</font></p>

<p ><font face="Arial" size="2"></font> <br><font face="Arial" size="2">The
MRFCleaner within FME corrects problems such as line overshoots and undershoots,
duplicates, and gaps, and is useful for multi-layer and multi-tolerance data
cleaning and conflation. This functionality will yield significant benefits in
terms of improved productivity for many FME users, especially those who
routinely migrate data from CAD to GIS or who wish to integrate and conflate
utility maps, parcel maps, topographic maps and resource maps.

MRF Clean是一个功能强大的图形-GIS数据检查工具,在业界很有知名。它和FME集成到一起的话,将极大的改善数据加工和整理的效率。<br>

                    Applications and Functionality </h2>
                  <p>The MRFCleaner
                    corrects geometric problems in input data such as line overshoots
                    and undershoots within the tolerance set by the user. It
                    is useful for multi-layer and multi-tolerance two-dimensional
                    data cleaning.  Typical applications
                      include the integration and conflation of utility maps,
                  parcel maps, topographic maps and resource maps.</p>
                  <p>The MRFCleaner
                    includes the following functionality:</p>
                  <ul type="disc"><li class="copy_bullets">fuzzy tolerance</li><li class="copy_bullets">extending lines</li><li class="copy_bullets">weeding lines</li><li class="copy_bullets">joining lines</li><li class="copy_bullets">short element processing</li><li class="copy_bullets">removing
                      gaps</li><li class="copy_bullets">removing duplicates</li><li class="copy_bullets">removing dangles</li><li class="copy_bullets">performing conflation</li></ul>
                  <p>The number of layers used in cleaning
                    the data is determined by the different tolerance values
                    of the input features. Features that have the same tolerances
                    are processed as if they belong to the same layer. This allows
                    feature data from a high quality data source to be assigned
                    a small tolerance and integrated with data from a lower quality
                    data source, which would be assigned a larger tolerance.</p>
                  <p>Geometries
                    such as path, polygon, donut, ellipse, elliptical arc, multi-area,
                    multi-curve, text, and multi-text are converted to basic
                    geometries such as point, line, path, arc or multi-point
                    prior to the cleaning process. The cleaner does understand
                    and work with circular arcs. Input features with invalid
                    geometries are ignored and deleted.</p><br>
