3) Study the graph and explain the relation between rainfall and orange production.<p></p></P>
The figure above shows that rainfall is closely related to orange production. From the combination of the solid line and the broken line we can see that either too much or too little rainfall has adverse effect on the production of oranges. From 1960 to 1975 the steady decrease of rainfall from nearly 40 centimeters to 20 centimeters had brought the growth of orange production to the highest point of 400 thousand tons in the region. Then with the rainfall continuing dipping to only 15 centimeters per growing season, the output of oranges went down accordingly. Later, the recovery of rainfall accompanied by equal revival of orange production from 1980 to 1985 reconfirms our proposition that the rainfall around 20 centimeters is best for orange production. Finally the latter half of l980s and early 1990s unfailingly proves that less than 15 centimeters of rainfall means disaster for the farmers.<p></p></P>
To sum up, rainfall has direct influence on orange production. It is with moderate rainfall, that is, around 20 centimeters per growing season, that farmers can expect the best orange output.<p></p></P>

There are many means of getting information which enable us to keep up with what is going on in the world. First, we read newspapers and news magazines. For example, the typical daily newspaper contains articles about local, regional, national and international news, as well as sports news, weather reports, and other features. Second, we listen to the news on the radio and watch it on television. In addition, some TV stations offer early morning news, late night news and weekly news programs. No doubt, there are still many other means of getting information.<p></p></P>
As far as the role of information in the future is concerned, I believe that information will play a more and more important part in people’ s decision- making.<p></p></P>

Bicycles have become more and more and more popular in China. People ride bicycles to their work places, to schools, to shopping centers, and so on. Compared with cars, bicycles have many advantages. First they are handy and convenient. Although a bicycle runs much more slowly than a car, it can carry you to anywhere you like in city and town and does not need a large parking place. Secondly, it is not so expensive as a car, and therefore, every family can afford to buy and to repair it. Thirdly, the car causes air pollution but the bicycle does not. However, bicycles have also brought some problems. For example, they have made the streets very crowded and caused many accidents. For another, some riders park their bicycles at random, which leaves a city in a state of disorder. Nevertheless, as long as these problems are taken care of by the local authorities bicycles will continue to be widely used in China.<p></p></P>
5. 书信写作<p></p></P>
申请信: 写申请信的时候首先应该明确目的是什么，因目的不同而调整侧重点，并在信的主体部分尽可能开门见山地说明目的，切忌顾左右而言他、词不达意。第二应该注意根据读者的不同而调整侧重点，尽可能让目标读者最大限度地了解你。<p></p></P>
与申请信相伴随，一般还有一些陈述性的文章，往往可以更加淋漓尽致地描述出你的背景、学业、性格、志趣等。这些文章的每个段落一般都针对某个设定的问题，这样读者看完这些文章后实际上就清楚了这些问题的答案。<p></p></P>
